How To Do Portrait Mode On Iphone 7

Enable Native Portrait Mode In Camera App On Non-iPhone 7 Plus Devices, Here's How

Here's how to enable native Portrait Mode feature in stock Camera app on non-iPhone 7 Plus devices running iOS 10.

One of the defining features of Apple's iPhone 7 Plus is the fact that it sports an advanced dual-lens camera system which is capable of producing beautiful depth-of-field effects natively, as unlocked through a software update early in the iOS 10 release cycle.

Many apps in the iOS App Store have looked to try and recreate that effect for other iPhone models, but this latest tweak to land on Cydia actually goes a step further by natively unlocking the Portrait Mode functionality present within Apple's own Camera app for unsupported jailbroken devices running iOS 10.1 and over.

There's no denying that the Portrait Mode for iPhone 7 Plus owners has gone down a storm with those who have purchased the device, and in all honesty, is one of the primary reasons why a lot of consumers actually part with the additional money to move up from 4.7-inch to Apple's larger 5.5-inch Plus model. It's also the reason why numerous third-party developers have created apps that attempt to mimic the functionality, resulting in those apps becoming extremely popular on the App Store, which just shows that consumers want this functionality.

Thankfully, for those that are jailbroken, the App Store doesn't need to be the place to visit as the new Camera Mode 10 tweak basically delves into the deepest depths of the iOS system and actually ensures that Apple's native Portrait Mode – which is usually only accessible on an iPhone 7 Plus – is enabled on all devices.

That basically means that this is the best possible native implementation to introduce the iPhone 7 Plus Portrait Mode as well as all other camera features not normally accessible onto non-iPhone 7 Plus devices.

Having said that, it's important to note that the results aren't going to be anywhere near like those achieved on the iPhone 7 Plus. This is of course because iPhone 7 Plus has dual sensors and Portrait Mode makes use of second sensor to capture all important data required to create that depth effect. While this tweak unlocks Apple's Portrait Mode in camera app for non-iPhone 7 Plus devices, it can't achieve same results due to lack of second sensor on those devices. It likely only uses software emulation to achieve the results like the apps present on App Store do.

Those interested in trying it out can grab it from the following repository in Cydia:http://paxcex.github.io/. Make sure you have a jailbroken device running at least iOS 10.1 or above.

Update x1: Camera Mode 10 is now available from BigBoss repo on Cydia.
